BIOGRAPHY

 

Patty Zagarella, an Emmy Award-winning Producer and Director, is driven by a passion for storytelling. Through her documentaries, she delves into the human experience, to help raise awareness, challenge stereotypes, and spark conversations. 

 

She is the creator of the ITVS funded PBS digital series "Blind Love,” which explores the concept of attraction through the dating journey of four single blind millennials looking for love. Patty’s documentary, “Baring It All,” produced for The Style Network, was a Daytime Emmy winner. Celebrated as an OK! Critic's Pick of The Week. The film sold in multiple territories and was praised by critics for its poignant storytelling. Her documentary "Walk Like a Man," a co-production between the U.S and Australia received rave reviews for its touching and disarming portrayal of two gay rugby teams who go head-to-head in The Bingham Cup, an international gay rugby tournament. The film premiered in Australia and was followed by a panel discussion on gays in sport. Patty’s documentary “Charm City,” which follows the founder of the non-profit, Black Women Build Baltimore, was produced for Magnolia network's anthology series, “In With the Old”. In addition to producing and directing documentaries, Patty works as an unscripted executive producer, and has been part of the creative producing teams on top-rated shows for VH1, WETV, BET, Discovery, and MTV.

Patty is a member of Achilles International NYC chapter, she serves on the Producer's Guild First Look Documentary Committee, and has mentored LGBTQ+ youth at The Center in NYC.
